One of my goals for this summer was to make a weekend trip out to The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk because I hadn’t been there since I was 18 years old. And who doesn’t love a beach/amusement park combination? Besides, Chris hadn’t been since he was in high school either, so last Sunday we packed up our bags and headed out to the “hippie” hills of California for some summer fun in the sun.
We got to The Boardwalk around noon, and after stuffing ourselves with some delicious, fried, amusement park food, we made a beeline to the beach where we relaxed and played in the water for hours on end. Really, there isn’t anything more relaxing than hanging out on the beach all afternoon.
Once the sun started to go down, we decided to take advantage of the short, end-of-the-weekend lines and go on some scary rides. Now some girls will say they aren’t a “rides girl”; I’m definitely a rides girl, but the thrill of the ride still scares the shit out of me. Sometimes, I get so petrified and scream so much, it makes Chris laugh! He thinks it’s “cute and endearing when I scream my head off.” Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Once we were done getting our adrenaline rush fix, we scarfed some corn dogs and ice cream cones, then headed to our hotel so we could pass out from our Day of Fun. Chris and I were in desperate need of a mini-vacation, so I’m really glad we made this trip happen: it was the perfect mix of fun/relaxing, relatively cheap, and just all-around awesome. I already can’t wait to go back next summer!
