Labor Day has come and gone, and school is back in session. Guess I should finally write about all of the fun summer activities I’ve done in the past couple months before summer’s officially over!
Wine Tasting in Amador County: I love wine tasting in Amador County because not only do the wineries there make great wines, the tastings at most (if not all) of the wineries are FREE. So when my boss planned an optional work field trip that consisted of my co-workers and I going wine tasting in Amador for a day, of course I cleared my schedule for the event! The day consisted of wine tasting and tours, lunch at a Ma ‘n Pa diner, and bonding with my co-workers. Oh, and of course I bought a couple bottles of wine to take home as souvenirs: a Sangiovese from Vino Noceto Winery, and a Petite Syrah from Cooper Vineyards.
The California State Fair: The California State Fair has been a family tradition for as long as I can remember; in fact, I’m pretty sure I’ve been every year since I was born (except for last year when I was in Korea). The Fair actually has a fairly poor reputation: “It’s too expensive. It’s ghetto. It’s the same thing every year.” All of this is true, but I still love it anyway because it’s something I’ve always done–and will continue to do–with my family.
This year was my and Chris’ first time at the fair together. We had so much fun taking silly pictures, eating fried foods, and he even won me a stuffed panda bear from one of the game booths!
Day Trip in San Francisco: Chris and I decided to escape the Sacramento heat for a day and head to The City where it’s about 20 degrees cooler. I love to dine, so our day consisted of stuffing our faces at three different places: Absinthe Brasserie and Bar for brunch, Flour + Water for dinner, and Humphry Slocombe for dessert. To kill time in between brunch and dinner, we walked around Fisherman’s Wharf and enjoyed all of the beautiful scenery. Overall, the day was a win: we stayed cool, ate well, and enjoyed ourselves, which is all we could have asked for.
To be continued!
What have you been up to this summer?
