Since Chris and I are having a city hall wedding, it never even occurred to me that I should have a bridal shower or bachelorette party; I thought that such a small wedding wasn’t deserving of such festivities since a lot of the people I’d want to invite wouldn’t be able to attend the actual wedding. The notion of having a bachelorette party didn’t occur to me until my close friends, Valerie and Emily, emailed me saying they wanted to host one for me. I immediately agreed to their request, because not only would it be fun to have a bachelorette party, it would be AWESOME to have one hosted by Valerie and Emily: two of my closest friends and two women who know how to throw a good party.
The night started out with a picnic at McKinley Park for drinks, appetizers, and party games. Valerie and Emily provided a lovely spread of cheeses, bread, pesto, fruit, cupcakes, brownies, and sangria. After snacking on the appetizers and getting slightly buzzed on sangria, we started the games: a cock ring toss, a three-legged race, and sexy charades!
Once we were done playing the games, we packed up our picnic and headed over to Lucca’s for dinner. At the restaurant, I received a lot of kind wishes from strangers, such as “Congratulations” and “I hope you have a happy marriage.” One “stranger” who came over to congratulate me turned out to be a real-life friend of mine! After we made the connection, she sent over a bottle of Prosecco for me and my friends to share. Later on, our waitress sent over a complimentary dessert for us to share as well. YAY for free wine and dessert!
After dinner, it was time to go bar-hopping and start my “sexy scavenger hunt.” In other words, my friends made a list of tasks I needed to complete at the bars before the end of the night. Here are a few examples:
1) Ask a guy for a condom
2) Get a lap dance from a guy
3) Kiss a bald guy’s head
4) Get a phone number
5) Get a guy to take off his shirt
6) Take a picture with a police officer
7) Take a picture with a bouncer
8) Take a picture with a guy named Chris
9) Get a guy to buy me a drink
10) Ask a guy his favorite sex position
All of these tasks seemed a little daunting at first, but the more liquored up I got, the more confidence I had in myself to complete my sexy scavenger hunt. And I did! As we hopped from bar to bar, the more tasks I completed and checked off my list. I still can’t believe I was able to do most of them! It definitely helped that my friends were constantly buying me drinks and cheering me on along the way.
The night ended with me drunker than I had been in months, sweaty from dancing my ass off at a gay club, and happy. Very, very, happy. This night was the most fun I’ve had since I’ve been home from Korea, and to think I almost didn’t have a bachelorette party now sounds crazy to me. Because Val and Emily planned this for me, I was able to celebrate my journey into married life with my sisters and closest friends, which made for a fun, hilarious, crazy, special night that I will never forget.
