For the 4th of July, I got not one, but two days off from work! Since I had a four-day-weekend on my hands, I really wanted to take a trip somewhere, but decided against it since I’m trying to save money right now. So I decided to do a little stay-cation instead. Here’s how I spent my long holiday weekend:
Chris and I hosted a small get-together at our place to celebrate the 4th of July. We had about five friends over for food, drinks, swimming, and a firework show happening across the street from our apartment. It was our first official summer get-together of the season, so now I can cross that off my summer bucket list.
I took a day trip to the Bay Area to visit my best friend and a couple of my cousins. I met up with my bestie in Oakland for lunch and some wedding dress shopping (she’s engaged). Then I drove to San Jose to have dinner with my cousin who’s six months pregnant. After dinner, I stopped by my other cousin’s house to visit her and her new baby. I hadn’t seen these ladies in a while, so it was great to spend some quality time with each of them, especially during these special times in their lives!
I had brunch at Orphan Breakfast House with one of my co-workers from my old restaurant job. We hadn’t seen each other since I quit, so it was so nice to hang out and catch up.
I got a gift card to a Mellow Me Out Salon and Spa for my birthday, so I decided to finally put it to good use over the weekend. I decided to get a facial because I hadn’t gotten one since right before my wedding. Plus my face needed it! I’ve decided I want to start getting facials more often because my face feels so clean and refreshed afterward. I got a pedicure on Wednesday night (the start of my stay-cation), so along with my facial, I got a good amount of pampering in this weekend.
Other fun things I did: worked out, went swimming, sat in my spa, and watched SYTYCD.
Chris and I had brunch at The Porch with two other married couples. It was our first time doing a triple date, and all of us married couples are newlyweds, so that was pretty cool! Plus my brunch was amazing; I ordered a “Duck McMuffin”: duck confit, brie, spinach, poached eggs, and hollandaise all on an English muffin. SO DAMN GOOD.
Other fun things I did: ran errands, did laundry, read, went swimming, cooked dinner, and blogged.
How was your holiday weekend? What did you do for the 4th of July?
