I participated in my first Color Run on Saturday! In case you’re unfamiliar, The Color Run is a 5K where you get covered in colored cornstarch while you run. It’s considered a fun run and has a reputation for being the “happiest 5K on the planet.” I first heard about The Color Run last summer, but by the time I went to sign up, they were sold out. This year, I not only made sure to sign up early, but I got a team together consisting of my family, co-workers, friends, and friends-of-friends. We called ourselves The Rainbow Chasers, and we had an absolute blast!
The event itself was huge; I’d say there were at least 20,000 people there. The Color Run draws a variety of people: families, college students, kids, senior citizens, and even handicapped people being pushed in their wheelchairs and toddlers being pushed in their strollers! One of my favorite parts of the run was seeing how everyone dressed up; there were tutus, wigs, and sunglasses galore! Oh, and the best part of the run? It’s non-competitive, so there is no pressure to run the whole way or finish at a certain time. In fact, a few girls on my team walked the whole three miles.
I’ve done four 5K’s since I moved home from Korea and The Color Run has been hands down my favorite of them all. My team and I already can’t wait to do it again next year!
Have you ever done The Color Run or another 5K? Did you do anything fun this weekend?
