Two-thousand-fifteen was a good year. Definitely not the best year of my life, but a good year nonetheless. It actually started out kinda crappy, but got better as the months went by. Here’s a quick recap of my 2015:
In January, my grandpa died from a brain aneuerysm. I wasn’t close to my grandpa at all, but his death was still an unexpected loss that left me feeling full of regret and reminded me that any of us can go at any time when we least expect it. A good thing that happened this month was Chris, Otis, and I went on a spontaneous weekend roadtrip and ended up in Tahoe. It was a nice way to escape the bad news that started out the year, at least for a little while.
In March, I ran my second half marathon. Unfortunately, I rolled my ankle a week before the race, so I didn’t set a new PR, but I still got through it and earned another medal.
In May, I turned 30. I had been dreading this birthday basically since I hit my late twenties and started to feel more and more anxious as the big day got closer. When I turned 30, I didn’t feel ready, but at least I had an epic birthday celebration to ease the pain of getting older.
June! This is the month when I felt my 2015 start to look up. In June, I did Whole 30 and lost 10 pounds as a result. I also finally got a Big Kid Job! I love my job, boss, and coworkers, but most of all, I love having benefits, a 401K, PTO, and nights/weekends/holidays off. Yes, June was a really fantastic month.
In September, I received a small inheritance from my grandpa’s estate and paid off the last of my student loans! Sometimes I still find it hard to believe I’m student-loan-debt-free.
October was probaby my craziest month of all: I went to Vegas for work, did a boudoir photo shoot, ran my third half marathon, and moved into a house— all in that order! This month was super hectic, yet totally amazing.
Even though my 2015 didn’t start out so great, there was still a lot of good that came out of it. I’m looking forward to wrapping up my year by staying home tonight with my boys, eating pizza, drinking champagne, and binging on some Netflix. Cheers to 2015!
