At 22 weeks, Baby M is finally weighing in at 1 pound! (Don’t ask me where the other 14 pounds I’ve gained came from. Ha!) My boy is growing, and it’s not going unnoticed. I’ve had some definite growing pains this week, from round ligament pain in my uterus to pain in my right rib cage when I cough/sneeze. Ugh!
Some other fun things from this week:
- We booked our babymoon! We are going to Carmel in two weeks for a few days. We have been talking about taking Otis to Carmel for the last year, so we thought this would be the perfect excuse to finally make it happen. (Carmel is a beach city off the coast and one of the top dog-friendly cities in California for you non-Californians.) I’m so happy we’re going on a babymoon. We almost decided against it because we’re obviously trying to save money for the baby, but Carmel is only a 3-hour drive and we’re only going for two nights so it wouldn’t be an expensive trip. Plus, we barely did anything fun this summer due to my being pregnant, so this trip will be our one big hurrah before summer is over.
- I finally had some good luck with maternity clothes this last week. To my surprise, I found two pairs of nice work pants at Motherhood Maternity and I am obsessed with them because they are super comfy and fit me perfectly. I had been to Motherhood Maternity once before and swore I would never go back because their clothes seemed old ladyish, but I’m glad I gave them another try, otherwise I wouldn’t have found the best maternity pants ever! I also discovered a website called Pink Blush Maternity. I feel like this website was made for me. First of all, it has my favorite color in the name! I love the look and feel of their website, and best of all, they’re clothes are totally my style: feminine and modern. I bought five dresses from their site this last week that I can’t wait to wear. I’m so excited to finally have some cute clothes that fit!
- I think it’s really sweet how excited my family is about the baby and to throw me and Chris a baby shower. The shower isn’t for another two months but they are already planning it and asking me what theme I want, who I want to invite, etc. I feel very lucky to have such a great support system in my life, especially as I enter this crazy time known as motherhood.
- I feel like so far in my pregnancy, people have been really nice when it comes to commenting about my changing body. No one has asked me yet if I’m having twins or how much weight I’ve gained (with the exception of my Asian grandmother but that’s to be expected). Instead, a lot of people have told me I look great or that I’m glowing which is nice to hear because I don’t always feel like I look great or glowing. Between the weight gain and the hormonal breakouts and barely having enough energy to put on mascara most days, sometimes I just feel gross and frumpy. I’m thankful for friends, family, and co-workers who try to make sure my self-esteem doesn’t completely plummet during my pregnancy.
I have absolutely no plans this weekend, so I think I will spend the majority of it cleaning the house and decorating the nursery. Oh yeah, the nesting has started already!
How was your week? What are your plans for the weekend?
