26 weeks! Only two more weeks until I’m officially in the third trimester. I’m excited for this milestone because it’ll mean I’m only 3 months away from meeting my son!
Some other exciting highlights:
- Hands down the best part of this week was Chris FINALLY feeling Baby M kick from the outside of my belly! He felt a few faint kicks last Saturday, but on Monday night, he felt a few really big kicks. The look on Chris’ face once he finally felt those big kicks was enough to make me tear up; I was so happy he finally got to have that experience with our baby after waiting patiently for so long. Chris’ birthday was on Wednesday, so I joked that the kicks were Baby M’s birthday gift to him. Overall, feeling/seeing baby move and kick has been so amazing and it makes me feel so incredibly lucky I get to experience the process of growing a life!
- I’m feeling very grateful for some of our friends who have had kids recently. They have been a wealth of knowledge when it comes to what to expect regarding labor and delivery, maternity leave, and starting daycare. A couple of our friends gave me and Chris the idea of staggering our maternity and paternity leaves so our baby doesn’t have to start daycare at 6-8 weeks like we had originally planned. The idea of Chris taking over when I go back to work makes me feel a little less guilty about having to go back to work so soon once baby is born. It still sucks, but I’ll take what I can get!
- I’ve been doing a better job about controlling my weight gain this time around. I’ve gained 3 pounds since my last doctor appointment two weeks ago, and I aim to gain no more than 5 between appointments. I’ve discovered that walking helps, especially the days I get more than 5,000 steps. And of course, eating healthier and not indulging too much. I’m a little nervous about my weight gain during my third trimester AKA the holidays! Pretty much everyone always gains weight during the holidays, so the fact that I’m going to be pregnant during the holidays means I’m going to have to keep myself extra accountable and make sure I’m getting enough walking in and not over-indulging too much.
This weekend I am heading to the bay area to visit some friends and family. The friend I’m visiting just had her baby three weeks ago, so I’m looking forward to meeting her little one and getting some newborn practice in!
How was your week? What are your plans for the weekend?
