Well, I’ve finally reached the end of my second trimester, and I have to say, it was pretty good to me. While I never felt like I had enough energy to work out, I did have enough energy to cook, clean, and run errands again. (You know, do normal everyday stuff instead of nap whenever possible!) My nausea/food aversions eventually went away and I got my appetite back. And while I’ve gained a good amount of weight and typically feel like I’m sweating rather than “glowing,” most people have been saying nice things to me like “You look great!” instead of rude comments I’d rather not hear.
My second trimester was way better than the first, so I’m a little sad to see it go, but at least now that I’m almost in my third trimester, I’m so much closer to meeting my boy!
On another note, some not-so-fun things happened this last week:
- I got my first dose of mommy shaming and unsolicited advice this last week. I was shamed by a family member who doesn’t agree with my decision to put Baby M in daycare after I go back to work. As for the unsolicited advice, it came from a family member who doesn’t even have kids! I was super annoyed after these two occurrences happened (both were in the same day), but apparently, I need to grow some thick skin because the unsolicited advice and mommy shaming will only get worse once Baby M is here. YAY. Oh, can’t forget to mention that a barista judged me for ordering a small latte the other day; she must not know that pregnant women can still have some caffeine during pregnancy!
- I had a little scare over the weekend; I got in a very small fender bender on Sunday while running errands. Even though the accident was super small and there was no damage to either car, I was still shaken up and worried about Baby M. I ended up going to the hospital to be monitored just to make sure he was ok, and thankfully, he was. His heartbeat was good and he was moving around a ton! I’m glad I went in because seeing him on an ultrasound really helped give me piece of mind after the accident.
- I’ve been having trouble sleeping again, unfortunately. Every night it’s something different: my hips hurt, my leg’s cramping, I wake up thirsty or hungry, I have to pee, etc. I guess this is just my body’s way of preparing me for the sleepless nights that are to come once Baby M arrives.
- As I get ready to begin my third trimester, I’m starting to feel a little overwhelmed. It seems like there’s still so much to do before the baby comes. One thing I really want to focus on this next week is finishing the nursery. I finally ordered a nightstand which was the last piece of furniture we needed. Now I just need to order a couple more wall prints and that should do it until the baby shower.
This weekend I am getting my testing done for gestational diabetes. Fingers crossed I don’t have it! As for fun activities, I’m getting a much needed haircut and we’re having Chris’ family over on Sunday night for a belated birthday dinner for him. This will be a good excuse to clean my house and get some of the nesting out of my system!
How was your week? What are your plans for the weekend?
