Hello, third trimester! I can’t believe it’s finally here, and I feel thankful to have made it this far. I’m a little nervous for this trimester though, because not only is there still so much to do before Baby M comes, but it also means that labor and delivery time is almost near. Eeek!
Some highlights from the past week:
- The best news from this past week is that I passed my glucose screening test which means I don’t have gestational diabetes! It’s been such a relief to get this test over with and finally know for sure that I don’t have it. I had been stressing about it for the past month, so now it’s become one less thing to worry about. When I got the news I passed, I may or may not have celebrated with a piece of cheesecake.
- I had a meeting with my boss this week to figure out my maternity leave. I’ve decided to start my leave a couple weeks before my due date (Dec. 28th) and return to work when Baby M is 8 weeks old. A 10-week maternity leave is not ideal (I’d prefer at least three months), but this is what’s going to work best for us and our situation. After I go back, Chris is going to take some time off work to be with the baby so we don’t have to put him in daycare right away. I think our plan is going to work out well as long as Baby M cooperates and doesn’t come too early or too late. We shall see!
- We had our 28-week appointment this week and Baby M is doing well! His heartbeat sounded good and he’s measuring right on track. I’ve also been feeling him move a ton. Baby kicks are hands down the best part of being pregnant. Feeling my baby grow and move around inside me is the most amazing feeling and I feel lucky I get to experience something so beautiful.
- The only plan we have this weekend is to meet up with a local photographer for our maternity photo shoot! I’m excited to get some nice photos taken of us while I’m pregnant. These photos will be such a great memory of my first pregnancy, and hopefully serve as a keepsake for Baby M someday. I’ve hardly been able to find any pictures of my mom when she was pregnant with me. I really wish she had taken more!
How was your week? What are your plans for the weekend?
