30 weeks! Please excuse the mess in the background of my picture; I was running late that morning and didn’t have time to make the bed. Also, I don’t know I feel about some of these fruit/veggie comparisons. My baby is the size of a cucumber at 30 weeks? Really? I mean, LOOK AT MY BELLY. I could probably fit a few cucumbers in there.
Lots of new things to report this week:
- Holy third trimester symptoms. I mean, I know I’ve been in the third tri for a couple weeks now, but a bunch of symptoms seemed to hit me all in the last week. My lower back has been hurting. My feet hurt after standing too long. My appetite is increasing. I have to pee more often. And I’m having more frequent and intense braxton hicks contractions, one of which was caused just from eating some spicy Thai curry! I can definitely kiss that second trimester bliss goodbye based on how I’ve been feeling this last week.
- Speaking of changes, I’m feeling Baby M move more than ever, like, to the point where I’m wondering if the kid ever sleeps anymore. His movement is getting stronger, too, and I find myself feeling more rolls and stretches in addition to his kicks and jabs. I can tell he’s getting bigger and running out of room in Hotel Uterus!
- Pregnancy is exciting but also scary. All throughout my pregnancy, I always seem to find something to be nervous about. Currently, it’s preterm labor. I am part of a pregnancy forum full of pregnant women all due in December, and it seems that a handful of them have been going into labor between 28-34 weeks! Luckily, their babies are doing well, but the thought of Baby M coming so early still scares me because we’re not ready for him yet! So I’m trying to make sure I stay hydrated and take it easy from here on out.
- We started our prenatal classes this week: we took a late pregnancy class, an infant safety/CPR class, and took a tour of the hospital where we’ll be delivering. Everything is starting to feel so real and it’s crazy to think our son will be here in about TWO MONTHS. It’s super exciting to think about, but we still have so much to do before his arrival!
This weekend is our baby shower! I’m so excited to celebrate my little guy with our close family and friends. I’m also really glad I decided to have our shower pretty early in my third trimester. Some women tend to wait as long as 35 weeks to have their showers; based on how uncomfortable I’m feeling now, I can’t imagine waiting that long! I don’t have a ton of energy at 30 weeks, but I’m pretty sure I’ll still have enough energy to have fun and enjoy myself tomorrow at my shower.
How was your week? What are your plans for the weekend?
