I’ve missed doing these monthly favorites posts and am excited to bring them back now that I’m blogging again. For July, I decided to switch it up and talk about my favorites from my first trimester of pregnancy: Not pictured: Jamba Juice, falling asleep on the couch by 8pm, and saltine crackers. Lots of saltine crackers.
1 – Ingrid & Isabel Women’s Maternity Everyday Bellaband – I didn’t start showing until I was around 12 weeks, but my pants did start feeling tighter around 10 weeks due to extreme bloating, so I decided to invest in one of these. Having a belly band has come in super handy so I can keep wearing my pre-pregnancy pants but make it so they’re more comfortable around the waist area as my stomach grows. Belly bands are definitely a maternity clothing essential.
2 – Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker – I’ve been doing a lot of walking since I got pregnant as my current form of prenatal exercise, and my Fitbit really helps keep me accountable. I chose the Alta because of its sleek design and how it looks more like a thin bracelet rather than a bulky fitness tracker. What’s cool about the Alta also is that it gives you little reminders throughout the day to get up and move around if you’ve been sitting for too long.
3 – Vitafusion Prenatal Gummy Vitamins – I recently switched from a different brand of prenatal vitamins to these and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made during my pregnancy so far. The other brand I used was fine for before I got pregnant and the first few weeks after I found out, but once I started getting all-day sickness, I couldn’t stand them anymore; prenatal vitamins tend to be huge so they are hard to swallow which can irritate your gag reflexes which can lead to nausea. It eventually got so bad, I hated taking my vitamins and would “forget” to take them every few days. I heard about gummy prenatal vitamins on a pregnancy forum and immediately set out in search for some. This brand has been SO MUCH BETTER for me; I actually look forward to taking my prenatals now because they taste like candy!
4 – What to Expect When You’re Expecting – I know this book is super cliche in the pregnancy world, but as a first time mom, I’m trying to get as much pregnancy info as I can get my hands on, and if this book is the #1 bestselling pregnancy book, then you better believe I’m going to read it. I’ve found the book to be pretty helpful and keep me off the internet for most of my pregnancy questions. I also enjoy using their app for daily pregnancy articles and weekly updates on how my baby is developing.
5 – Earth Mama Angel Baby Mama-to-Be Gift Set – My fellow pregnant friend got this for me after she found out I’m pregnant and I thought it was such a cute idea as a congrats-on-being-pregnant gift! The set comes with ginger-scented body wash and body spray to help with nausea, as well as a lotion and an oil to help prevent stretch marks. Can’t forget to mention the ginger mint tea bags it comes with, too. Seriously the perfect little gift to give a pregnant friend who is still in her first trimester.
6 – Old Navy Sports Bra – Sports bras are a must during the first trimester because your boobs are super sore and tender all the time. Any sports bra will do, but I prefer Old Navy’s because they are cute yet inexpensive.
What are/were some of your first trimester favorites? Any recommendations for the second trimester?
