In order to celebrate Valentine’s Day last weekend but keep it cheap, Chris and I decided to do an activity that wouldn’t cost any money: hiking. We went hiking in Auburn (45 minute drive from Sacramento) at a place called Hidden Falls. I discovered this place last summer with a friend and knew I wanted to go back eventually because it’s beautiful, there are creeks and waterfalls to play in, and there are a ton of different trails to choose from. I’m so glad I finally made it back with Chris because this place truly is a hiker’s heaven. There’s just so much gorgeous scenery to take in everywhere you look! Oh, and let’s not forget how sunny and warm it was this past weekend. Seventy degrees is the PERFECT hiking weather.
I’ve really grown to love hiking this last year because it’s such a good workout, but also fun. Chris and I ended up racking in around 18,000 steps/8 miles for the day while enjoying each other’s company and the great outdoors the whole time. Now that the weather is getting nicer, I foresee many more hikes in my near future, because in this day and age where we’re contantly glued to our phones/computer screens, sometimes it’s just nice to get outside and play.
How was your long holiday weekend? Did you do anything fun for Valentine’s Day?
